Our class had a pretend town hall meeting. It included leaders who spoke for or against slavery. Each student took on a roll to either speak for or against slavery. Most people who spoke against slavery were slaves themselves while the ones who spoke for slavery were political leaders. The slaves pleaded for their lives. They expressed their true struggles that they faced day to day... near death experiences included. The ones there to defend slavery were mainly political leaders who held high power. The ones who are well known are the ones who word will always be more heard. Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, etc wanted to bring an end to slavery, and those who spoke for slavery to live on were Henry Clay, William Harbour, etc.
