“Klansville U.S.A.” is a documentary about the Ku Klux Klan. This was a social club established in 1856 after the Civil War. The film explores the beginning of the Klan and how violent it had gotten. The Klan rose and fell a good amount of times. The North Carolina Klan began to rise in the 1960's and in just two years, it held over 10,000 members who were paying dues. The main people who populated this Klan were working white people who were either middle class or lower than that. These people faced the true threat of the African Americans taking their jobs. Their biggest fear was for the African Americans to be above them in the social class. The North Carolina Klan's were not violent though, as the Klan tried to send more of a political punch. The clan was what represented the hard working white man. They would make giant statements while setting giant crosses on fire or setting field fires. This was deemed okay to to because the fires were not hurting anybody. Children would even be brought to these events and exposed to this way of thinking. These Klans were able to be found all across the nation. Eventually, they ended abruptly for they hadn't accomplished one thing.
